2011 Recap Wow, 2011, you just flew by, didn't you? The saying is true, time flies when you're having fun, and we had the best time this past year. Let's break it down! In the last 12 month, the Bruises:
- recorded and released our EP, "Motion Light", named the #1 EP of 2011 by DJ Amperdan at Radio Valencia and named a Top Ten Album of 2011 by Innocent Words Magazine.
- played 22 shows alongside bands that we respect and admire, including but not limited to The Ettes, Corin Tucker, the Love Me Nots, The Trophy Fire, Eighteen Individual Eyes, and the Muffs
- went on multiple tours of the Pacific Northwest and Southwest U.S.
- were played frequently on Radio Soundcheck on Live 105
- finished in 3rd Place (1st in SF!) out of more than 250 bands nationwide in the Pop-Up Live Competition sponsored by PopChips and SPIN Magazine, resulting in more than 500 downloads of the single "Mean What You Say", nearly 1,000 YouTube video views, 2000+ votes nationwide, and special coverage from SPIN.com and local indie blogs.
- raised well over our Kickstarter goal to get us into the studio for our next full length in the next couple months!
You were a great year, 2011! But 2012, you're looking mighty fine yourself! We can't wait to get into the studio to record this record for you guys. We are in the process of booking studio dates and will keep you posted on our progress. Thank you so much for support and you'll be hearing from us soon!
