As much as I love san francisco, I have to say that it is so great to get out of the city sometimes. I've just taken to camping in may adult life, and its pretty amazing. Right now im enjoying the setting sun, cheap beer, and the company of my love.....its a good time :) The smell of deet is warming up to me......much better than mosquito bites! They love me! When I get back to the city, look out. First, its gonna be my birthday, so I'm gonna be all like "make way for the princess!" Plus, we have an AMAZING show to prepare for! Get ready for July 30 at Bottom of the Hill with the Subways. Its gonna be awesome!
Omg tonight is the best practice ever. We are prepping for our acoustic show on friday and it is always fun to hear the songs in a different way. Aja and I have downed a couple PBRs and she, Billy, and I are now just goofing around. Did you know Aja is a really good drummer? She's inventing all these great beats and Billy and I are singing songs on the fly about bad children and people who don't tip enough at practice. Its pretty amazing. Im attaching a cute pic of Billy and Aja but I don't know if it will travel from Sidekickland to Blogland.....I hope so! I also hope to see you all at our show tomorrow at Hotel Utah and also our Friday acoustic show at Dolores Park Cafe!!!!! Kisses, *jen*
WE need an update!!!! It is now the end of March and we here at Bruises base camp are finally getting over the awful flu, or whatever it is that has been floating around. Actually, Billy got it the worse. Poor guy has been to the emergency room a few times because of it. Once Jenni gets back from her Mexican Cruise we should be back in full effect. WE've either been sick or traveling....but I think we are all tired of both and ready to play some damn shows. We have some new songs too that we are really excited to play for everyone. New songs!!!! wooo hooo
I dont remember posting the entry below....Hmmm. Good thing to note to myself. Thank god I didn't write anything embarrassing! Christmas is right around the corner. Time to start shopping and getting in the holiday spririt. I want the new book on Slash. That's the only thing on my xmas list right now. I love all the dirty rocker boy life stories. I've read the Motely Crue book and Dave Navarro. Motley's was amazing and Dave's was quite dumb. I don't recommend it. We've been busy as a band rehearsing songs and organizing our new practice space. WE bought a brand new p.a. and have had the hardest time getting the sound right. WE practice in a small space and share it with another band so it's tough to find the right place to put the speakers and aim the amps and all that stuff. Last practice we spent about 3 hours reorganizing.(we all have ocd I think) It was hilarious though and Billy (our new drummer) is possibly the funniest person I've ever met in my whole life. I think he and Jen were seperated at birth sometimes because they are very similar with their humor. WE had to do a cheerleading move to hoist Billy onto a shelf in the rehearsal space so he could place some speakers up there. I always get awful flashbacks when I think of my cheerleading days so I had to crack a beer before helping him down. WE have some video and pictures from the show that I will try to post very soon.
Oh my God, I am SO tired. It was a really bad idea to have a show and then have to be to work at 7 am. I'm the kind of tired where your eyes are rolling back uncontrollably and your bones hurt. BUT, I am in a great mood. Last nights show was fantastic! It was so great to see so many friends and meet so many new ones. Plus, my sister was in town from Illinois and that just made the night even more special. Love you Sam! And how about that Von Iva? Those girls never cease to amaze me. So talented and super nice on top of that. Lovey love them. Thanks so much to everyone who came out last night! It was totally worth the ridiculous amount of tired I am right now. Mwaaah!
Some inspiration. Sometimes all you need is some good music. It was Jenni's birthday this past weekend and we went to see Eisley. For those of you who do not know , JB and I really love and appreciate their music. They are made up of all siblings and 1 cousin, and they are very pleasing to the ear. They were opening for the Fray (who we are not fans of) and we drove the 45 mintues to listen to their 30 minute set at the Shoreline amphitheater before packing up our little blanket and heading home. On the way out they were by their merch booth signing autographs. Jenni and I stood in the shadows and watched them....those youngsters who make pretty music. *sigh* then our friends told us to stand in line and meet them and we were like "Um no". Because: A: we felt too cool for that B: we felt shy and C: we felt old
But we stood in line anyways. yes we were the oldest except for the kids standing with their parents. We got up there and were like "you're really good'' and were all shy and dorky. Oh well. It made our night and it was JENNI"S BIRTHDAY!!!!!! The next night I saw Tegan and Sara play in a small theater. Wow. They are some chatty chatty mama's. I've seen them play a handful of times but never in my life have I watched them play when they talk for a good hour. The show was over 2 hours. They played their entire new album and some old stuff. It was really fun except there was no air in the theater and I was silently wishing they would just come to my house and finish the set so I didn't have to sweat my butt off in the theater. No luck. But it was a great show and I left feeling good about music. We are sending out the record tomorrow to be mixed. FINALLY. Boys and Girls,,,,,,I wish you all knew the blood sweat tears and work we've put into this . I hope you like it!! I'm so excited. And we promise the best cd release show ever...
