30 October 2006

October has gone by so fast! The album is in its final stages and almost ready to get mixed. Jen and I drove to Fremont today to talk with the guy who will be doing it and he is really amazing. Scott (engineer and producer) has been amazing too. As mentioned in earlier blogs he's really pushing us for our best performance...so much in fact I got real sassy the other day while recording vocals and had to take a walk. Then we made up and everything rocked! Sometimes it's hard to hear other peoples views and changes they want on songs you've been playing for a year. BUT, it's sounding really really great. I can't wait until it's done!!
This month also marks Jenni and I's 2 year anniversary of living in California. Seems like just yesterday we packed up Sheila (for those who are not aware, the mini van is named Sheila and she is lovely) and drove for days on end to L.A. We had 2 cats in the backseat meowing for hours, mix tapes, a very small amount of money, no place to live and a handfull of friends. Thank god we had each other and high spirits because as soon as we rolled onto the 101 poor sheila broke down and we had to spend the night in a gas station parking lot. That was the beginning of our life in California. L.A. holds many Jen and Aja stories, but we'll save that for a "tell All". And today we are in foggy San Francisco. How did that happen? I love when things end up completely different then you ever imagined.
Tomorrow is Halloween and I'm staying home and watching Rocky Horror picture show and eating pie. Here's To a wonderful 2 years on the West Coast, my awesome bandmates and Pumpkin pie!! cheers!!!

15 October 2006

whewwww.....what a day. I feel happy and accomplished, so far at least. Today was spent doing the first day of tracking for the album. We got most of the drum work done and I have to say that Derrick was effing amazing. He's like a well oiled machine--you won't believe it when you hear it. I feel blessed to play music with him.
Tomorrow will be mostly bass and guitar overdubs, and then we'll see what's next. Scott is an amazing producer. It's the first time in my musical experience that I actually feel pushed as a band to get the best performance possible, and I think it's really going to show through in the final product.
Basically what I'm saying is, the new Bruises record is going to rock. Get ready.

Oh yeah, in other news, I've decided that this is the week I'm going to get serious about going to the gym. If you see me around, nag me about it or something. Thanks in advance ;)
